A Look At Dude Ranch Activities - Articles Surfing

Although most people fittingly think of horses and horseback riding on a dude ranch, there are a variety of other activities for guests of all ages. Whether you prefer a leisurely stroll through one of nature's beautiful trails or enjoy the scent of an unspoiled forest, a dude ranch can quench your thirst for a taste of nature. If fishing is on your list of favorites, you may be pleasantly surprised to learn that many ranches are located along private streams and rivers. In addition, many offer fishing lessons with knowledgeable tour guides to help vacationers find the perfect spot.

Depending on their location, some ranches even offer excursions into ghost towns, gold mining tours and archeological missions. If a day of exploring isn't your cup of tea, perhaps a day spent lounging around the pool or hot tub will do the trick. Most dude ranch facilities offer a quiet and relaxing atmosphere for guests to sit back and enjoy the peaceful sounds that only nature can provide. If you are looking for a day away from the city or just an escape to simplicity at it's best, a dude ranch has plenty of activities for everyone. River rafting, hiking, cookouts, campfires, mountain biking and dancing are also common activities at a dude ranch.

For those who are specifically interested in horseback riding, there is plenty to offer whether you are an amateur or advanced rider. A dude ranch is designed to provide every rider with an experience that is best tailored to their needs. If you are a beginner, you may find special interest in orientation and basic riding instructions. Riding lessons are available to everyone and are sure to offer even the most experienced rider with the opportunity to learn something new. While most dude ranches accept children into various programs at age 3, the minimum riding age at most facilities is 6 years old. Trail rides are different and the riding ages will be determined by each dude ranch. For the younger children who are not permitted to participate in trail rides, there may be ponies or a gentle horse for them to enjoy. In addition, they may also enjoy the host of other activities available for young visitors at the ranch.

In short, a dude ranch is a fantastic getaway for singles, couples and for families. Surrounded by nature, but with all of the conveniences of modern facilities, dude ranches are very popular among the adventuristic and for those who are in search of nothing more than serenity and relaxation.
