Must Visit New York Neighborhoods - Articles Surfing

New York and more specifically Manhattan is home to some of the most diverse and unique neighborhoods around. No matter what you want you are guaranteed to find it in one of these awesome neighborhoods.

NoLita

Until a little while ago this magnificent New York neighborhood didn't even exist. Located slap bang in the middle of Little Italy, the Lower East Side and SoHo this tiny neighborhood is awash with gorgeous boutiques, galleries, treasure filled second hand shops and restaurants featuring an eclectic array of sensational tastes.

The Flatiron District

Famous for its 20-story, Flatiron building, Flatiron District includes a number of boutiques, retail shops and stores. The area is considered one of the popular shopping districts.

Located between Chelsea and Gramercy the Flatiron District takes its name from the leading attraction, the magnificent 20 storey Flatiron Building. This is one of New York's trendiest neighborhoods due to the many clubs, bars and restaurants. The gothic architecture which is prevalent throughout the neighborhood is a must see. While you're there visit Flatiron Building, Gramercy Park, the New York Public Library and the Empire State Building.

Chinatown

Boasting the largest population of Chinese-Americans in the country, Chinatown is a must visit for travelers interested in the exotic. This New York neighborhood comes alive in January as it celebrates the Chinese New Year in full regal. For traditional Asian fare, street markets and specialty oriental stores you won't find better than Chinatown.

Little Italy

Located directly next to Chinatown, lies a little slice of Italy. Little Italy sports some of New York's most gorgeous cafes and restaurants and it goes without saying' the food here is supreme. If you're a fan of Mafioso movies Little Italy is a must visit as several scenes from the Godfather and several other Mafioso movies were shot here.

Midtown

Midtown New York is separated into its eastern and western halves by the prestigious Fifth Avenue. Midtown East which includes the fashionable neighborhood of Murray Hill is renowned for its excellent shopping opportunities, restaurants and fantastic attractions. So if shopping at Herm's, a trip to the architecturally splendid Chrysler Building and dining on sushi or pizza before heading off to the MoMA appeals to you, Midtown East is a must visit as far as New York neighborhoods go.

Midtown West is New York's heart when it comes of the business, shopping, entertainment and tourism sectors of New York. On a trip around Midtown West be sure to visit the eclectic neighborhoods of Hell's Kitchen and Clinton. A melting pot of cultures, races, religions and tastes ' NYC neighborhood is a treat for every kind of visitor to the Big Apple.

Greenwich Village

Greenwich Village is divided into the East and West Villages by Broadway and is undoubtedly New York's most arty neighborhood. If it is poetry readings, smoky jazz bars or punk rock clubs Greenwich Village will suite you down to the ground. As it's the home of NYU there are plenty of rocking night spots, pizza and beer joints and cafes here too. Greenwich Village truly has something for everyone.

SoHo

SoHo is New York's hippest hotspot renowned for magnificent pavement art, studios, galleries and arty cafes. At night the neighborhood is alive with vibrance and color ' a trip out to one of the trendiest restaurants or bars should not be missed.

Chelsea

Looking for New York's prettiest neighborhood? Visit the oh so posh Chelsea on your next visit to the Big Apple. Home to the Chelsea Piers, Union Square and Madison Square Park; Chelsea boast a thriving gay scene and a wide array of restaurants, theatres and nightclubs. Another of its charms is that it is slap bang in the middle of New York's garment district ' shopping here is a treat.

Upper West and East Sides

The Upper West Side is renowned for its cosmopolitan atmosphere as well as its charm. Far more laid back than the Upper East Side it is popular amongst executives and young families. Shopping at Zabars, Fairway Market, Hugo Boss, Morgenthal Frederics Eyewear and Crabtree & Evelyn is a treat and the Lincoln Center, the Children's Museum of Manhattan and New York Historical Society will take care of your more cultural needs.

Home to some of the wealthiest citizens in New York the Upper East Side is exceptionally trendy and is the place to go if you're interested in some serious shopping, and with outlets such as Barneys, Madison Avenue and Bloomingdales its easy to see why.

Tribeca

Just west of SoHo lies the equally trendy Tribeca and its galleries, markets and amazing clubs. As New York's publishing district this neighborhood is home to several bookstores and so many restaurants that you'll have difficulty choosing.

Each NYC neighborhood is distinctly unique and boasts its own attractions, only a few of them have been discussed here. In fact there are so many neighborhoods in New York it may take you a few trips to the Big Apple to visit them all.
