Fernie Accomodation ' Do You Know Where You're Staying? - Articles SurfingSo you've decided to embark on a ski vacation to Fernie Alpine Resort in British Columbia, Canada . You were likely swayed by a number of reasons: the promise of pillowy powder snow, the myriad of runs available for skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels, and the charming 'Legend of the Griz.' Top that off with the atmosphere of traditional mining town and bohemian back-country, and you've made an excellent choice for your destination. There's only one problem. How to decide where to stay? You could leave it up to the hotels to tell you where you're Fernie accomodation is located (something they may not do until after you book). Or you could invest your own time scouring the web for various Fernie maps, descriptions of Fernie accomodation regions, and recommendations from other visitors to Fernie. But wouldn't you rather have the hard work done for you? Then you could spend more time doing squats, leg raises, and making sure your ski or snowboard equipment still fits and hasn't grown soggy with neglect and mold. Luckily, I've put together a Fernie accomodation cheat sheet to give you an idea where you should stay based on the activities and experiences you desire. The Four Glorious Regions Of Fernie Accomodation Timberline Crescent ' Located in the south-east of Fernie Alpine Village, Timberline Crescent is one of Fernie's largest regions. It is only a hop, skip and a short walk to the resort base and the Timber Quad chair lift. Fernie accomodation in this location is great for all groups, and generally has a cheaper nightly rate. Highline Drive - Located in the central area of the Village, Highline Drive is home to a number of developments that are ski in/ski out and only a five minute walk to the base of the Elk Chair. It lies just north of Boomerang Way. Boomerang Way - Located in the southern-most area of the ski resort, Boomerang Way is generally quiet and secluded. While not ski in/ski out, Fernie Accomodations at Boomerang Way are only a short walk away from the Elk Chair and the main Village. This area is perfect for families or groups looking to spend some quality time together. Highline Close - One of the most desirable locations in Fernie, Highline Close is located in the north-east of the village, featuring ski in/ski out and only steps away from the Elk Chair. Many of the properties also offer panoramic views of the Rocky Mountains, all five alpine bowls and the beautiful surrounding forest. While Fernie is the fastest growing mountain resort in Canada, it remains entirely walkable, so you don't have to worry about being too far from the action. Then again, there are a number of compelling reasons to stay outside the resort in the city of Fernie. Fernie Accomodation In The Fernie Township If you're worried about the expense of Fernie mountain accomodation, consider staying outside the resort. The trip is only a brief 3 miles from the mountain village, and you won't need a vehicle, since an inexpensive shuttle runs between the resort and downtown Fernie 5 times daily. (Each way is only a few dollars). Downtown Fernie also features a more extensive bar and restaurant scene, with live music most nights and culinary choices on offer from around the world. Plus, mingling with the friendly locals will give you a taste of authentic Fernie and they'll appreciate that you took the time to get to know this remarkable town in a tiny corner of British Columbia.
