Frequent Flyer Miles' What Are They? - Articles Surfing

You may not know what these frequent flyer miles are, but you have probably at least heard of them. You may think that they are only offered or available to other people. You may even think that they are only for those people who spend half their lives in the sky. Although, when you line up the facts, frequent flyer miles are not just for certain people or those people who frequent the skies. These miles can also be advantageous for those who enjoy taking longer trips, and don't want to pay small fortunes for them. There are plenty of individuals who can benefit from these programs, and you could be one of them.

What are they?

The most important knowledge you can posses when approaching a frequent flyer program is to know exactly what frequent flyer miles are. Most people think that they are simply miles which are added when you fly somewhere, but they can be so much more than that. These frequent flyer programs are offered by most airlines, and their purpose is to keep their customers loyal by providing rewards to them. Most programs reward their customers as follows: for every mile flown, a point is rewarded, and the more miles the more points. Basically, if you want to earn 800 points, you will need to fly 800 miles.

When you have earned enough frequent flyer miles you are able to redeem them for air travel that is free. Most often, you can accumulate miles by using an airline's credit card for purchases. It is just one more way for you to earn mileage. Not only can you use your points for free air travel, but some programs allow you to redeem them for priority booking on a flight, or the use of a personal lounge area at the airport. Each plan is different, so research!

Remember to take in the various types of programs available when deciding on a frequent flyer program to use. You should sit down, figure out your goals, and determine what programs best meet those overall. Also, make sure that the programs also offer you a wide range of options, but don't forget that biggest program perk, free travel.
