Summer Events In and Around Chichester and West Sussex - Articles SurfingIf you are looking for a break this summer there are lots of exciting events in and around West Sussex in the summer that you can enjoy. Explore the historic city and stay in friendly accommodation in Chichester. At the end of June , the Chichester Festivities start which promises to be an entertaining and enjoyable few weeks for all the family. Running from 27th June to 13th July, this is an event the entire family can enjoy with street carnivals, concerts, talks, music, exhibitions and other festivities including the Real Ale and Jazz Festival in Priory Park, which is a four day festival which over 2500 people attend. Different bands play each night and artists including Blondie, Status Quo and James Brown have performed during this event. Shortly after the Chichester Festivities end, Goodwood will play host to the annual Festival of Speed. During the 11th, 12th and 13th of July, over 200 cars and motorbikes will be on display at Goodwood. There will also be a stunning display from the Red Arrows. The Festival of Speed celebrates the culture and history of motor sport and cars. This event always attracts around 150,000 people a year so make sure that you book your tickets and hotel in West Sussex well in advance! Also at Goodwood, the horseracing starts at the end of July. This event happens several times a year and the races are always a spectacular event, set in what many think is the most beautiful racecourse in the whole world. There is more horseracing at Goodwood in late August, September and also in October aswell as some weekends. On the 9th and 10th of August, there will be a Chilli Fiesta at West Dean Gardens where there will be food tasting, cooking demonstrations and chilli growing. There is also the Chichester Film Festival from the 23rd August to the 9th September at the cinema in New Park where there will be over 70 films showing at the cinema. These events will be fun for the whole family. In September, there will be the Goodwood Revival. This takes place over a weekend and is a popular historic race meeting. It relives the time when Goodwood Motor Circuit was a leading race venue and is an unmissable event. There will be many plays on in the Chichester Festival Theatre, ranging from tragedies to comedies for all the family to enjoy. These events promise to be fun-filled and memorable breaks for the whole family. Set in and around the popular city of Chichester, you can also enjoy some of the tourist attractions while you are in the area such as the spectacular cathedral, the traditional cattle market, the Weald and Downland Museum, the Roman Palace, the museum, the stunning views over the harbour and the walks along the canal. There are many friendly hotels in Chichester to stay in or if you would prefer not to stay in the city, there is other accommodation in West Sussex.
