Dieting can be referred as the selected food to control the body weight or nutrient intake. When the diet is used in eating context, it is the food that aid in dieting. Individual dietary choices can be more healthy or less. As far as nutrition is concerned, it requires the proper consumption and equally important, the absorption of the essential elements like minerals, proteins, vitamins carbohydrates and fats. The dietary habit and selection plays an important role in mortality and health. This can also describe cultures and create the benchmark in religion. Generally, diet is chosen to seek the weight gain, weight loss, to avoid cancers, cardiovascular health, sports training and as regimen in various diseased condition. When someone changes the diet pattern is changed, or someone goes 'on diet', it can change the energy levels in the body. It can decrease or increase the amount of fat or adipose tissues in the body. Foods, which are intended to help reduce the weight, are often labeled as 'diet foods'. These 'diet foods' are usually advised in conjunction with various exercises. Proper diet is important to maintain the health and opposite to that, if there is poor intake of various vitamins, minerals and carbohydrates; it can lead to diseased state that can have bad effects on the health. Improper nourishment is often called as malnourishment. The great examples of malnourishment are childhood diseases Kwashiorkor and Marasmus, which are the diseases caused by lack of dietary protein. Reverse to that, if one has heavy and over diet, it can lead to the obesity which in terms, invites many other diseases including arteriosclerosis, obesity and diabetes. In addition to diet, other words or phrases that are used to narrate and identify these foods includes Low Calorie, No Fat, Fat Free, No sugar, Sugar Free, Lite or Light and Zero Calorie. These all terminologies are described generally to reduce the weight. However, these all labels must carry what they show. For instance, the 'low fat' must not contain more than three grams of fat per serving. A person, willing to reduce the weight often follows the 'dietary chart' given by dietician and generally he or she is called as 'on dieting' or 'on diet'. The chart for them is usually the list of low calories diet or low fat diet. The needed calories are counted and the diet chart is prepared accordingly. Cutting down the diet will result in 'more demand and less supply' energy in terms of calories in the body and this will eventually turn into the weight loss. In the diseased state, the diet plays essential role in controlling the disease. The regimen is advised along with internal medications. Dietary regimen helps to recover faster from the illness and when followed perfectly, it will prevent further worsening and recurrence of the disease. Healthy diet along with light exercises is the key to perfect balance in the body. It will help you to keep the harmony between the physical and mental state.
