Diets Set You Up For Failure - Articles Surfing

Americans use Diet food and products as a tool to loose weight. This is the major reason that there is an epidemic of overweight Americans. The obesity rate is rising while the diet industry promise of relief from growing waistlines has done little to stop the spiraling epidemic. In fact the diets set you up for failure for achieving long term weight loss.

Diet food will increase appetite in the vast majority of dieters. The artificial sweeteners used in many of the products set you up for cravings. The diet soft drinks are known to increase appetite. An eight year study conducted by Sharon R. Fowler at the university of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonia Texas confirmed this. A study of 1,550 Mexican Americans and non- Hispanic white Americans ages 25-64 showed those that drank diet soft drinks had a drastically higher risk of weight gain.

There are studies where they fed lab animals artificial sweetened low calorie fare, it made them crave more calories than animals fed real sugar. The human body may be seeking calories that it anticipated from the diet soft drinks. It tries to remedy that promise of calories and will increase appetite until it gets the units of energy.

The reason is simple. If you are overweight your mission in life is not just to shed pounds. There is a major health risk if you are morbidly over weight. There is a perceived health decline if you are heavier than your ideal weight. Diets are a set up for failure because they will only get you to lose some weight at the beginning. Then the diet food and zero calorie drinks will start setting you up for failure. A diet that is dependent on any processed food will increase appetite.

What the diet industry does is set you up for short term weight loss. The bigger picture is that most diets are not productive on a long term scale. The reasons are simple. The desire to eat and perceived hunger are the crucial factors when trying to change your eating pattern. The highly refined carbohydrates that are prevalent in the western diet are associated with appetite stimulation

Many overweight individuals assume that low fat is somehow related to weight loss. The diets encourage low fat and zero fat dairy. The low fat myth is supported by well meaning health professionals. The typical low fat fare diet is f filled with all kinds of high-tech low fat delights such as ice cream, cheese, chips, cookies, and frozen items. The Processed food set you up for cravings. Allowable treats on these diet plans sometimes include items with non-nutrient sweeteners that are known to increase your cravings.

Now that you know why diets set you up for failure, you owe it to yourself to not depend on the diet industry to solve your problem. Weight gain is a symptom of an unnatural diet and that is what a processed food provides.
