Shoe Styles and Injuries - Articles SurfingMost women feel very sure-footed when walking along streets and into buildings, but those people that wear high-heeled shoes has had to train all senses to be aware of obstacles in their path. Most women that wear casual shoes regularly would never think about crossing over air conditioning grates that are built into the sidewalks and streets in large metropolitan areas. A city woman that is wearing heels would think twice about walking that route because they know the high heels could lead to painful injuries. Spiked heels, in particular, have a tendency to lodge in cracks in sidewalks and severe ankle injuries are the result. Some shoe manufacturers have recalled shoes due to the number of injuries that clients experienced, and the company absorbed the cost of offering refunds to customers, but many tried to offer customers the option of trading the defective pairs for a shoe style that was stylish but safer. Many shoe styles that are equipped with high heels are safe but wearing the shoes safely will require a bit of experimentation and numerous hours of wear. Shoes that fit closely on the foot are likely to cause some injuries during the first month of wear. Many shoe customers know that some shoe materials will require a breaking in period before they are comfortable and safe to wear. During the first weeks of wear, many customers will love the shoe styles and injuries will occur when shoe material rub against the skin and cause it to blister from the friction caused by contact with materials such as leather. Some customers fail to treat the blisters and end up with an infection that could cause gangrene if not treated by a doctor. Other shoe styles cause injuries due to the angle at which the bottom of the foot rests in the shoe. Some people are unaccustomed to wearing shoes made of cork or hard leathers and will recognize the unsuitability of long-term wear after only a few hours. The most common complaints that people voice when wearing shoes styles made from these natural materials are a painful ache in the arch of the foot that never seems to go away. A warm soak of the feet might ease the ache, but many will prefer a vigorous foot rub from a family member. Many shoe styles mimic the natural form of the foot. People wear these shoe styles and injuries rarely occur. Some brand-name shoe manufacturers have built an empire from the natural curvature of the foot and have styled shoes that are form fitting but also breathtakingly beautiful. These natural shoe styles are fashioned for wear at casual or dressy occasions and are extremely comfortable. Most of these natural shoe styles accommodate natural curves with thick rubber soles that help absorb shock to bone ligaments and joints as people walk in them. Government research panels have eyed shoes styles and injuries and have had a great influence on regulations that govern shoes worn in certain environments. Construction workers wear boots that are reinforced in the toe region with a steel plate. Electrical workers wear boots that have rubber soles in place for insulation against shocks from systems that are worked on throughout the day. Other workers wear low-heeled shoe styles and injuries are reduced tremendously. Service personnel in restaurants wear shoe styles equipped with non-skid services due to the wet flooring found in most eating establishments.
