Excessive thinking about one of more subjects can seed the subconscious. The subconscious then interferes with the sleep process. Sleep and anxiety disorders are often brought on by the subconscious. Depression, panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorders are four things that commonly lead to anxiety. With anxiety, people will frequently suffer from sleep disorders. Sleep and anxiety disorders are often closely related and one can lead to the other. Traumatic experiences or panic attacks can lead to anxiety attacks. The anxiety attacks can be also be brought on by worrying or thinking too much about the problems in your life. Treatment of Sleep and Anxiety Disorders To get rid of sleep and anxiety disorders, it is best to try and curtail your worries. Don't dwell too much on your problems. I know that is tough to do but with practice and a bedtime ritual that puts you at ease and relaxes you before you go to sleep; you can minimize the sleep and anxiety disorders during the night. There are remedies including professional help for panic disorders. Panic disorders are common at night and include waking up with a pounding heart, sense of panic, cold sweats and disorientation. Do you feel like you have been violated? You have no control of things. These are often the result of traumatic events such as a death of a person you are close with, or violent acts against yourself or someone you love. There are many situations that may be classified as trauma. You can overcome these with some professional help. You can help the psychological process by coming to grip with the situation. You have to come to terms with what happened and get your life back under control. If you can do this, then you are well on your way too minimizing or even curing your sleep and anxiety disorder. Another common impediment to having a good night sleep is obsessive-compulsive disorder. OCD can be manifested by a number of things. Something is wrong with the bed or room. Someone is watching as you sleep. Real or imagined, these things will affect your sleep patterns. Compulsions such as hiding under the blankets, counting tiles on the ceiling or anything that takes up all your thoughts or being too aware of your surroundings are all indicative of OCD. Sleep and anxiety disorders are frequently by-products of OCD. Too get a good night's sleep you must clear your head. Work and personal problems must be dealt with or discarded in your mind before you will sleep restfully. Sleep can also be promoted by aromatherapy and massage. A lot of sleep and anxiety disorders can be negated with a regimented routine before retiring for the night.
